Croydon Music 2009 – 2010

January 4, 2010

cm-2010

2009 was quite an eventful year where the music industry has gone through a number of challenges and we have seen the major companies struggling with falling product sales and desperately looking for new areas to maximise there revenues.

We at Croydon Music made it our mission to push the theme of music and business to everyone we came into contact with. We believe that once individuals fully realise they are in business then they are better prepared to compete and achieve success.

In 2009 we hosted a number of events and was very pleased to have a number of industry specialists make time to come down to speak with Croydon’s music community starting with an Online Marketing seminar in January given by one of the industry’s leading specialists Leena Sowambur.

We hosted seminars in different areas of the industry and we were especially grateful to music lawyer Simon Long who came straight from Los Angeles and the Oscars, where one of his clients were receiving a best soundtrack award to come and give a seminar on music law. This seminar was a straight forward and frank explanation on the industry, how it works and what individuals should do in regards to contracts.

We were also pleased to be involved in a number of Croydons Festivals including providing performers for the Croydon Fashion Festival in the Whitgift Centre. We also provided performers for stages set up in the town centre giving much needed exposure for some very talented performers.

We at Croydon Music was most proud of hosting our first CR-0 Music Business Conference in August at The Jury’s Inn Hotel, which featured a full day of networking and music business seminars covering areas such as The Music industry Marketing, Video Production, Licensing, booking gigs and performance. This event was an amazing success with individuals leaving with renewed drive and optimism regarding their own music business goals. We ended the day with two live music events one acoustic hosted by the brilliant Kokoa Brown and the Fusionnaires and a full live band event hosted by our very own Rock Chic Kimberly Anne.

So what does 2010 have in store?

We will be starting the year with a networking event so businesses and performers can get together discuss their year and aims for the future. We will be inviting special guests for individuals to gain some experienced points of view and information. We also will be hosting a number of seminars and live performance events.

We will be repeating the CR-0 Music conference this year, we aim to make it bigger and better so it becomes a regular yearly music business event where we will bring the industry to you.

If you want to be considered as a performer at any event in the coming year or have suggestions on areas of the music industry you would like to see covered, get in touch via email @ contact@croydonmusic.co.uk.
