International Songwriting Competition

iscATTENTION! For those who are into song writing and want a chance to enter a song contest that gives both aspiring and established song writers the chance to have their songs heard in a professional, international arena, then maybe you should check out the International Songwriters Competition (ISC).

The purpose of this competition is to promote the dying art of song writing so get your guitars and your pens out. The event has a prestigious panel of judges that consists of: recording artists like, Timberland, Kings of Leon, Robbie Williams, Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol and Mario, Music Industry Executives; Amanda Ghost (President, Epic Records), Amy Doyle (Senior VP, Artist and Talent, MTV) and Angel Carrasco (Sr. VP A&R, Sony BMG Norte and President, Discos 605) to name a few. This is a unique opportunity to network on an international scale and to have your songs heard by influential decision-makers in the music industry.

Your songs will be judged on the basis of the following criteria: Creativity, Originality, Lyrics, Melody, and Arrangement. The production/recording quality and vocal ability are not criteria.

You are wondering what you get for entering this competition?

In 2008 the prizes were as follows:

Overall Grand Prize Winner – $25,000 cash (U.S.) and $20,000 in prizes

• First Place Winners in each category – $3,000 in prizes

The First Place winner in the Teen category will also receive a full scholarship to Berklee College of Music’s 5-week Summer Performance Program in Boston, MA, USA (tuition, room and board included)

• Second Place Winners in each category – $2,000 in prizes

• Third Place winners in each category– $1,000 in prizes

For 2009 the prizes are over $150,000 in cash and prizes are shared by 65 winners

Entries for 2009 have to be submitted by October 7th 2009. So come on people, the deadline is soon approaching, get submitting!
