Jean Michel Rotin

October 13, 2009

jean-michel-rotinCroydon based performer Jean-Michel Rotin is one of the most respected artists in the zouk genre, and is also one of the creators of Zouk RnB (mixing and love zouk and Rnb) a style popular with artists of the new genaration like Kaysha, Nichols and others. Jean-Michel Rotin said “JMR” or “69″ (because he was born in 1969) has begun to entertain the public with the group in 1989.
1994 is definitely his best year to date: the album “Heroes” was a great success, selling  over 75,000 copies, which is an excellent figure for a zouk album,

Two years after  in 1996, Jean Michel Rotin launched into production under the label Stuff Records. He released his second solo album, just called “Solo”. The disc was the first album which launched the famous Zouk R’n'B as known today. It is also on this album that finds Kaysha, one of the future stars of Zouk Rnb. After the album “Solo”,

Jean-Michel Rotin was then  asked by many artists for his talent as a composer. Tanya Saint-Val, Sonia Dersion and more.

He also participates in two group albums JM Harmony and proves once again his creativity on tracks such as “Adan péyi jumped” and “And I Love Her” .

In 1998, Rotin released the album “PREVIEW” with a subtitle enigmatic “Zouk Is Dead?” (Zouk is he dead?) A question that many are facing at the time as the zouk lack of creativity and inventiveness to renew. The sound of this album is closer to the other more rnb and rap as the zouk itself.

2002 Rattan spent some time in New York, Guyana, Guadeloupe and Paris for the preparation of his 3rd solo album  titled “Nation”.

Jean Michel has just celebrated his 20th anniversary and celebrated it with a concert in Paris.
