Kate Nash to open Glastonbury

kate_nash_la.jpgHere @ Croydon Music we like to keep our eye on what the former Brit School students are up to, well the latest news is that Kate Nash will open the Glastonbury music festival.

The Brit school alumni will be the first act on the Pyramid Stage on Friday June 27 with the festival being headlined by Kings of Leon, Jay-Z and The Verve. The festival will take place between June 27-29 this year,

Nash who has been compared to singer and now TV presenter Lily Allen is said to be “chuffed” with the news she will open the momentus occasion, is also still on a high after recieving the “Best British Female” award and the Brits this week. Nash could be in for more good news as she is also nominated in two categories at the Shockwaves NME Awards on Febuary 28th and will taking part in the NME US tour with commences in April.

Nash has also announced that she will release her next single, ‘Merry Happy’, on March 24.

The record will be available on two seven-inch vinyl single formats and CD. Just 1,000 copies of each format will go on sale.

Nash is on tour in the UK throughout February and March, and further festival dates will be announced later in the year.
