Leona meets her idol!

UK X-Factor winner and former Brit School student Leona Lewis meets her very own American Idol Whitney Houston.

Lewis met Houston at legendary music mogul Clive Davis’ Grammy party and was spellbound, what was even more of a surprise to Lewis was when she realised Houston knew who she was and proceeded to call her a “baby me”.

Lewis performed her latest single “Bleeding love” and cover hit “First time ever I saw your face” and wowed a celebrity packed audience consisting of Houston, Janet Jackson, Alicia Keys, Usher and more. She said: “It’s been almost surreal and feels just so wonderful that I performed in front of so many people I admire – especially that Whitney even knows who I am and said that about me when I’ve been such a fan all these years!”

Clive Davis who was responsible for the career of superstars such as Whitney Houston and Alicia Keys (to name two of many) chose Leona as his ‘Special New Artist’ guest, an honour previously bestowed upon Maroon 5 and Jennifer Hudson – said the 22-year-old star was the perfect choice to entertain his A-list guests. He said: “Leona’s range, her feel for music – it’s clear she has the passion for music”.

A year ago, right here, we gathered the best writers and producers of the world. We had her sing in a living room of a suite and she floored them. It led to getting incredible material which has made up her album.”

It looks like the future is definatley looking up for Lewis who seems to be on the road to following her other Brit school Alumni Amy Winehouse.
