Online Pluggers
April 30, 2009
There is an online equivalent for every job under the sun from online music stores to online distributors. We are covering another area in this article, online Pluggers.
For those of you who are unaware of the term “Plugger” here is a quick definition.
These are the people who take your music and sell you to radio and TV in order to get you play listed or on TV shows etc. (at least that’s what my old one was supposed to do!)
It was inevitable that there would be online equivalents as stated before there are versions of everything online, even marriages. The problem with online versions of most things (not all) is that they aren’t as good as the real thing and there is no real accountability. Most of these online services are missing one important ingredient, human interaction. In the good old days a person would arrange a meeting and sell you with passion and convince a radio station that you were the best thing since the Rubik’s cube and everyone would want your record, now radio DJs will check their email and sometimes due to coke being spilt over his keyboard or his Blackberry blowing up your music may never get heard.
There are a few companies at the moment who profess to save you time and money and will send your music out to an impressive database of companies. Don’t get me wrong i’m not anti-internet in fact I am pro as it is giving the mainstream industry the kick up the butt it needs. When thinking about contacting these companies, find out if they just send out your music to 100’s of unknown internet stations in Eastern Europe or if there is a realistic chance of your music being heard by the right people.
As always with the internet don’t go with the first company you find on google but check them out thoroughly as you could be flushing money down the proverbial loo!
