Scorsese to make Marley documentary

The legendary movie director continues his musical theme by making a documentary about the life of the reggae music icon Bob Marley.
The movie director most famed for his works in the gangster genre such as “Goodfellas and Casino” surprised many by directing a movie about “The Rolling Stones” has agreed to continue his musical journey by agreeing to direct a documentary about the life of Bob Marley.
Marley’s son Ziggy is co-producer of the new documentary, which has still to be given a name.
‘I am thrilled that the Marley family will finally have the opportunity to document our father’s legacy and we are truly honoured to have Mr Scorsese guide the journey,’ said Ziggy Marley.
This is not the first time a movie about the lengendary reggae singer has been announced, several projects have been proposed including “The Bob Marley Story” which was set to star his son Rohan in the lead role, with lauryn Hill to play his wife Rita, but either stalled in development or were scrapped by studios.
The documentary is scheduled for release Feb. 6, 2010, on what would have been Marley’s 65th birthday.
