Kaleidofly

Band: Kaleidofly

Genre: Melodic Rock

Members: Rachel-Vocals, Logan-Drums, Bobby-Guitar, Sam-Guitar, Chris-Bass.

Influences: Soulfly, Tool, Incubus, Muse, A Perfect Circle

Location: Ipswich (Logan), Croydon (Rachel, Bobby, Sam and Chris)

Bio: Kaleidofly were born out of a friendship that originated in Portsmouth between Logan and Bobby: these two talented individuals and lived together for a year while on a navy base. After months of playing together and building a musical relationship, they parted ways, reluctantly returning to their hometowns, but still continued playing music while apart. Bobby and friend Rachel (Vocals), both share a love of the same music, and played together in Logan’s absence. After writing their first song (Steady) together, they got it recorded, sent it through the internet to Logan. Logan laid a beat and sent it back to them: a stream of other songs was to be constructed in this way: back and forth. So, this band constructs their songs over a 100 mile distance through the magic of the internet!

Soon after the making of Steady, Logan, Bobby and Rachel were joined by Sam (actually Bobby’s brother) and Chris (Bass). When they first all played together, it was like they had been doing so all their lives, and they felt a spark, feeding off of each other’s energy whilst playing. Kaleidofly have collectively written near on 20 songs together and are now making it their mission to spread this music to others across the country. The selection of songs that they have made range from acoustic material with subtle vocals, to quite heavy, metal-esque riffs with powerful vocal stylings. Kaleidofly are very dedicated in what they do, and make it their responsibility to not only provide a fresh sound to the public, but also potentially give the music industry the band that they have been missing.

Experience: Kaleidofly have had much experience in performing in live settings, on many occasions in the guitarists’, bassist’s and vocalist’s hometown (Croydon), and have been responsible for their own promotion: designing their own flyers, logo, posters and leaflets. Kaleidofly have really taken charge of their musical careers and having written and produced all of their own music (all original material) and have made conscious efforts to practice together with whatever time they have. All but one of the band members have “real” jobs (the vocalist being a student), but always find time outside of their daily lives to work on their music. Kaleidofly have also featured at a festival in Reading, and played at various other locations throughout the country: including Basingstoke, and also Ipswich’s very own “McGinty’s”!

Kaleidofly’s most recent achievement was securing a place in the regional finals for music competition “Live and Unsigned UK”. They will be performing in 2 months’ time at Ipswich Corn Exchange on Saturday 9th April.
