South by Southwest (SXSW) Festival

South by South West is one of the USA’s largest festivals, taking place in Austin Texas.
SXSW is a music and media festival and is full swing right now in the USA. The festival features some of America’s biggest artists such as REM, NERD and much more. There are performances by 100’s of acts on 80 stages around Austin Texas, but will also feature specialist industry speakers, a trade show giving people the opportunity for business purposes and make deals.
This year will be the 22nd ever festival and their keynote speaker is the veteran rocker Lou Reed.
The festival has also been used by the rest of the world’s music industry as an opportunity to launch their acts to the American music scene; recent UK artists to feature at the festival include Lily Allen and Amy Winehouse.
The festival will discuss music related topics from recording at home, to royalty issues and photographers on musicians. It will also deal with the rising digital debate covering subjects such as downloading.
