Winter Music Festival Kicks off in the Sun!

wintermusicfestival.gifThe 2008 winter music festival has begun in Miami. For those who don’t know it is a week long music festival featuring everyone who’s anyone in electronic music.

Over the next week the top DJs, artists, record label representatives, producers, radio and video programmers, retailers, promoters and distributors from around the world attend the festival to showcase their skills, check out the newest tracks, and, most importantly, network with other professionals in the industry.

In it’s 23rd year the festival has not only placed itself as one of the top music conferences, but it has become a mecca for clubbers with the worlds best DJs playing in over 38 venues around the South Beach area of Miami.

In the days the Conference features all the newest equipment relevant to electronic music with up to 6500 industry professionals from around 62 different countries.

The festival known for specialising in genres such as House, Trance, Drum & Bass and other musical genres based around club culture, but recently it has welcomed Hip Hop as a part of its make up, with Erykah Badu and Public Enemy’s production team The Bomb Squad in attendance this year.

The festival culminates with the Ultra Music Festival, which has to be one of the largest dance music events with 200 DJs playing 14 straight hours to 50,000 people.

Previous performers at the festival include The Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, Underworld, Paul Oakenfold, Dieselboy, Carl Cox, Pete Tong, Paul van Dyk, Josh Wink, DJ Icey, D:Fuse, Goldie, DJ Craze, DJ Hyper, Fabio, Grooverider, DJ Dara, Junior Vasquez, Christoper Lawrence, Deep Dish, Sasha, AK1200, The Prodigy, and mor.

You may be too late to catch this year but if you are into dance music, sunshine and beaches, book you place well in advance for Miami in march!
